Protein Quality Control in Neurodegenerative Diseases - 09 May 2011 There is growing evidence that proteostatic defi ciencies in neurodegenerative disease and other
diseases of protein conformation that interfere with protein stability and function can be suppressed by enhancing the activities of chaperones and restoring the proteasome and autophagy. Whether achieved by genetic approaches or small molecules, it may now be possible to achieve the goal of enhancing the concentration, conformation, quaternary structure and/or the location of a protein by readapting the innate biology of the cell to ameliorate the most challenging diseases of our era.

Citation Analysis for Publishers - 26 May 2011 Bibliometrics in the broadest sense is simply the study of texts or information, but in a journal publishing context, it is most commonly used to refer to the analysis of citations between journal articles. This course provides an overview of bibliometrics with particular reference to journal metrics such as the Impact Factor, Eigenfactor, and SNIP indicator. Specific attention will be given to characteristics and differences between different citation indexes, and will include extensive hands-on use of these products, including an illustration of the types of analysis which can be derived from these data sources.
