ALPSP - Journal Development 2: strategic development for journal managers - 02 Oct 2012 Overview: One day course: This course has been designed as a follow-on from Journal Development 1 which provides participants with a toolbox system for planning the development of their journals. This more senior course looks at overarching strategies for journal development (including acquisition and portfolio development). The course is built around case studies to allow participants to work on simulated scenarios in order to discuss and test ideas and strategies with their peers and the course facilitators.

Frankfurt Book Fair - 10 Oct 2012 The Frankfurt Book Fair and MEF, the global community for mobile content and commerce, have entered into a co-operative agreement. Under the deal, MEF will be an official partner of the Mobile Hot Spot at the Frankfurt Book Fair, scheduled for October 10 - 14, 2012. The Frankfurt Book Fair will be an official supporting organisation and judge of this year's Meffys Awards.

ALPSP - Citation Analysis for Publishers - 24 Oct 2012 Overview: One day course: Bibliometrics in the broadest sense is simply the study of texts or information, but in a journal publishing context, it is most commonly used to refer to the analysis of citations between journal articles. This course provides an overview of bibliometrics with particular reference to journal metrics such as the Impact Factor, Eigenfactor, and SNIP indicator. Specific attention will be given to characteristics and differences between different citation indexes, and will include extensive hands-on use of these products, including an illustration of the types of analysis which can be derived from these data sources.
