DASER Summit postponed to December - 02 Dec 2005
Digital Archives for Science & Engineering Resources (DASER) has postponed the DASER-2 Summit to December 2-4, 2005. The summit, to take place at College Park, Maryland, brings together key players in STM publishing to discuss issues regarding digital libraries, institutional repositories and open access publishing. Jan Velterop, Publisher, BioMed Central, will be the main speaker of the event. The meet will be of particular interest to science and engineering librarians, STM publishers, systems librarians, database and digital library professionals and managers of STM collections. The sponsors of the event are the American Society for Information Science & Technology, the Scientific and Technical Information Systems Special Interest Group and the Potomac Valley Chapter.

INIST to host seventh international conference on grey literature - 05 Dec 2005
The Institute for Scientific and Technical Information (INIST) will host ‘The Seventh International Conference on Grey Literature’ (GL7) on December 5-6, 2005 at Nancy, France. INIST, a unit of the French National Centre for Scientific Research, and indexes literature related to science, technology, medicine, humanities and social sciences.

ALPSP workshop on effective market research strategies - 07 Dec 2005
The Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) will hold a residential workshop on December 7-8, 2005 in London to teach publishing professionals the basics of developing effective marketing techniques. The focus of the workshop is on building a strategic framework for effective market research, the comparative pros and cons of qualitative and quantitative research, the various techniques of conducting such research, the available research channels and methods to evaluate the results. The workshop principally targets professionals in the scholarly books and journals publishing industry. Editorial and marketing staff, who are involved in formulating pricing and product proposals based on market research, may also participate.
